introducing ordinary people to extraordinary, ever-growing life in Jesus, our Savior

First Time?

What’s it like?

Joining our Morning Worship celebration is an uplifting time of worship and spiritual growth. You will be moved by the heart-felt singing to God. The message from God’s Word will motivate and challenge you to pursue a deeper friendship with God. We spend time in prayer; Jesus said “My House shall be called a house of prayer” (Luke 19:46).

We want people to know God in a deeper way. We spend time in His Word, unpacking all the wisdom and insight from it to know Him and ourselves more fully.

What are we like?

Attending an unknown church for the first time can be extremely intimidating. You don’t know until you walk in the door if these people are purple-Nike-cult-members, wishy-washy-don’t-stand-for-anything-ers, or down-to-earth-kind-and-gracious-believers.

Websites are great for that reason. But even a website doesn’t give you the full picture. In case you are wondering, we try to be that last group mentioned above.

Every church says they are friendly because every church thinks they really are. But if you’ve been looking for the perfect church for awhile, you know reality is not every church is friendly. We think we are, but we’d love for you to discover that for yourself. At both churches a half hour before the worship gathering begins, we have a social time with coffee and snacks. Come a get to know some of us; we would love to get to know you!

What should I wear?

A lot of people worry about fitting in when they visit a church for the first time. What do I wear? What is taboo? We are a genuine cultural mix at Lehigh Bible. Some wear suits or dresses, while others wear jeans and a t-shirt. The fact is people ask this question about churches all the time: what should I wear to not stand out too much? What is appropriate or inappropriate?  From God’s perspective, nothing has changed since Saul’s day (1040 BC) when He spoke through the prophet Samuel saying “man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)  God isn’t impressed by your fancy clothes or insulted by your lack of fancy clothes.  God wants to work on your heart and change it into something beautiful.  Character, morality, eagerness, godliness: these are the things God wants from you.  This is what we want from worshippers too.  In fact, Jesus instructs His church to ignore flashy people and to serve ordinary ones first (James 2:1-10).

So back to the original question… what to wear?  Wear what is comfortable and natural for yourself.  Be yourself.  After all, God will see the real you anyway.  But also, wear what will be comfortable for worshippers around you.  Dress modestly as to not draw the attention of your fellow worshippers away from God and on to you.  So whether it is a suit or dress on one hand, or jeans or khakis or shorts on the other, sincerely God and your church family want to bring you closer to your Maker in our worship gatherings and we are not really concerned about your attire.
